Lorne – Market Round Up
As I continue to dissect the numbers of the past financial year for the Lorne office and present a truly indicative summary of the outcomes one of the best indicators is volume of transactions of which we measure in both dollars and by numbers. The performance of our market to June 30 saw a period of constrained volumes where the year ranked as number 10 in a 35 year history of record taking.
This probably comes as no surprise to many but it is always good to qualify an opinion as we prepare our forecasts and business plans for Lorne. There are many who hold the belief that what we are experiencing may be the new “norm” and its fair to say that the next twelve months will tell the story.
I will share with you over the coming months other specific facts about our local market.

Lorne – Weekly Report
A quieter week on the coast following what was a very busy school holiday period and with the sale of an Erskine House apartment and an ongoing negotiation of two other Lorne properties there continues to be some good signs on the coastal property scene.
It is worthy to note that some “behind the scenes” discussions are beginning to expose some top quality stock that will come onto the market in Spring. As the Melbourne winter auction market continues to show good signs and set a platform for the future, the Spring/Summer period on the coast will be the test for what lay ahead.
On a totally unrelated non real estate matter the community of Lorne received some great news during the week when the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee announced that the revised draft plan for Lorne’s Point Grey precinct would include two buildings. This much awaited announcement means that the Lorne Aquatic and Angling Club will stay on its current site and the northern access road will remain open.
