Lorne – Market Round Up
Picking up from where we left off last week I thought we would have a look at employment in the Surfcoast Shire which has access to a regional workface of approximately 155,000. It follows, and probably not surprising that 42% of the Shires employment is involved in accommodation, food, retail trade and construction.
Whist tourism services makes up the singular largest contribution to employment numbers, wholesale trade sits at the other end of the scale and is the smallest contributor to the Shire wide employment numbers.
For the first time since 2009-2010 total employment numbers in the Shire reduced by approximately 800 in the year December 2012 – 2013.
