Lorne – Market Round Up
It has been interesting to watch the Melbourne auction results through the first part of Spring and the signs have been good. Clearance rates have been consistently above 75% on good volumes of auctions and the media reporting has all been positive.
A favourite “old chestnut” of mine is the Westpac Melbourne Institute monthly Consumer Sentiment survey that has just been released sharing another improvement of 3.8% on top of last month’s 1.9% recovery.
According to Westpac’s head economist Bill Evans this is a “pleasing result” and the index level is just 1.2% below pre-budget levels, although 10.8% below the post-election spike. The rebound in confidence augurs well and he is confident enough in the outlook to say he expects that consumers will “be running at a faster pace in the second half of 2014 than the first half”. Lets hope you’re right Bill!

Lorne – Weekly Report
With Schools breaking up today, Preliminary final weekend upon us and temperatures tipped to be in the mid-twenties early next week, Lorne will again be “alive with visitors”. The official launch of Lorne Film will take place at Cuda Bar from 4:30pm on Saturday afternoon for those of you lucky enough to be in town at this time.
On the real estate front there is a good selection of open for inspections through the weekend and a good selection of new stock coming onto the market. Buyer activity is beginning to follow the Melbourne trend and with two contracted deals, and three continuing negotiations the week has been productive.
The first signs of Spring are good and we are optimistic that the coming months will see the rebirth of the Lorne property market!
