Our Backyard

The Spring Racing Carnival is always a great time to be in Lorne and this year has been no different. The crowds in town last weekend were exceptional and apart from the odd display of the ever-changing spring weather, a great weekend was had by all. Whether it was the kindergarten market on the Saturday or the Melbourne Cup celebrations at Lorne Angling and Aquatic Club on Cup Day, the town was alive and kicking and interestingly the town will continue to go the same way over the coming weeks but for entirely different reasons.

Wednesday the 21st of November signals the last day of VCE exams and with Indonesian and Japanese languages plus VET Laboratory Skills being the last for 2018. “Schoolies” will already be underway and we will see many descend over the coming weeks to celebrate their final year at school.

A big weekend for property sales in Lorne with three contracted deals, one in all of Wye, Kennett and Lorne respectively. Fascinating to follow the Lorne sale at 24 Dorman Street where the original weatherboard home on the low side of the street attracted great interest from our “pool of buyers” and sold within a week of the agency agreement being signed and before the for sale board was put into place. A great result all around with happy vendors and purchasers delighted with the service they received from three different members of our team all with the one goal in mind – offering the best possible service!

Many will ask “why would you sell before the sign goes up?” The answer is simple in that there is always a “pool” of buyers who are searching, ready to act and want to buy a Lorne residence. The moment a new property is listed, our team “hit the phones” to ensure those qualified buyers are alerted to the opportunity and in a good market the results are strong. Once the “pool of buyers” is exhausted we are then relying on new interest to trickle into the market and fall in love with what others haven’t. If they do great, and if they don’t and they are motivated purchasers then they go in the “pool” of buyers that will be alerted the moment another new property is listed. So, the moral of the story is that if you are a motivated buyer, make sure you are known to one of our team!
