LORNE – HERE AND THERE

Market research firm Propertyology identified the Surf Coast as Victoria’s most expensive housing market as research shows how city prices have changed the national real estate landscape.

The Surf Coast, as identified by Propertyology, now sits as Australia’s fourth most expensive city/municipality with a median house price of $835,000, behind Byron Bay ($987,500), Sydney ($950,000) and Kiama ($910,000).

Melbourne ($772,500) was sixth of Propertyology’s top 40 most expensive with Geelong ($531,500) at 24 and Golden Plains ($477,000) at 33.

Managing Director Simon Pressley said the two-year downturn in Australia’s biggest capital cities had shown buyers were turning to regions for cheaper housing and lifestyle. The trend comes as no surprise to us, as we have been spruiking the strength of our region for years!

LORNE – MARKET ROUND UP

Without doubt the talk of the past week has continued to revolve around the newly created residential house price record in Lorne, and we have had great delight in sharing the outcome with property valuers who specialise in Lorne, but with little “top end” comparisons of recent years. A landmark result and a real shot in the arm for the Lorne property market.

Off the back of recent successes, we have been able to sell one of the last remaining Oceania residences for full price which now leaves only two uncontracted and still available at $1,795,000 each.

A couple of other negotiations are nearing completion and helping to resuscitate the market that almost died on us in January. Hopefully we are able to successfully complete these transactions and achieve a monthly budget at our quietest time.

LORNE – A LITTLE SECRET

Can you believe it? The month of April delivered only 8ml of rain in Lorne and many thought that desperate times lay ahead. Then May arrived and a very wet arrival its been with over 4 inches of the liquid gold in the first ten days of the month.
