Our Backyard

Tomorrow is the shortest day of the year and on a day when the number of daylight hours is at its smallest and a great time to officially turn on the new electronic scoreboard at the Stribling Reserve oval. Our footballers and netballers return to our local ground for this weekends fixture against the Western Eagles. Works on the new scoreboard and bases for the new light towers are now complete and on Saturday the stunning new scoreboard will be turned on for the first time.

The state-of-the-art structure features a combination of electronic panels that combine to produce a stunning visual experience to a level not seen in our region. A magnificent addition to our sporting reserve and the first major addition that signals the start of the planned works that will see the Stribling Reserve Master Plan evolve over the coming years.

If you are in town over the weekend, get up to the reserve, support the locals and see for yourself the new electronic scoreboard in full colour – Go Dolphins!

Hard to believe the end of the financial year (EOFY) is less than ten days away, a time of the year when it’s great to reflect on the numbers of the past twelve months as we look to forecast real estate trends of the future. Its been a year that for us was clearly broken into two halves. Not only by calendar date but also market performance which absolutely mirrored the calendar year. The last half of 2018 continued with strength and then, as previously written, it was like the “light switch” was turned off on the 31st of December as we ushered in 2019 with our slowest January in the history of our company. Thank goodness as the year has progressed our monthly adjusted targets have been within reach and a couple of major factors helping frame our optimism. The Federal Election result in May ensuring no immediate changes to Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Tax legislation has certainly assisted in the first steps of restoring confidence to the local market. Add to this, the record low interest rates and laws of supply and demand that have always underpinned the Lorne market and our forecast is that 2019/20 will be a solid year for our local market. Over the coming weeks, I will share with you what our prices have done over the past 12 months.

The Winter Solstice is scheduled to occur tomorrow at 1:53 am signalling the shortest day of the twelve-month calendar. Always a great hump to get over as days will now start to get longer!
