Our Backyard

There is so much happening in Lorne this weekend that it promises to be action packed for those that want it or as quiet and peaceful for those who don’t and would rather spend time with their feet up. The weekend kicks off with the the Lorne Foreshore Market on Saturday run by the Lions Club of Lorne and once you’ve had enough of that head to the Lorne Aquatic and Angling Club (LAAC) to enjoy a wine tasting afternoon. In one of the best locations on the Australian coastline, the event will feature local wineries and a local olive grower. Being coordinated by Corks Crew cellars from Torquay between 2-4pm it is the perfect entrée for however you want to spend Saturday evening. Qdos Arts, as usual is open all weekend and another of our hidden gems, and on Monday evening at the Lorne Country Club, the return of the Calcutta! Kicking off at 6-6:30pm, the night includes a two course meal with the horse draw and auction to start soon after. Once you’ve locked away your fancied runners, head back to the LAAC to spend Cup Day with the locals from 11am with free champagne, chicken salad, snacks, multiple TV’s and onsite “bookie”.

A super month for real estate in Lorne with 11 transactions being written out of our office. Having openly shared with you that we only completed one for the month of January, its great to see the recovery that’s been evident since the conclusion of the Federal Election earlier in the year. What is equally encouraging is the spread of demand across all price sectors from under $1 million to in excess of $2 million. Furthermore, two of these 11 transactions involved multiple buyer interest and we saw competition conclude both results in excess of their asking prices.

With pressure now mounting on quality well priced stock we are strongly encouraging all vendors whom are well priced to go to the open market with strength as I’m sure we will see more competition in the future than we have had in the past!

And for those that are still trying to get into the Lorne market I hope your chosen horse wins at long odds and you can get into this market in the shorter term!

Gotta tell you, had an incredible bush walk earlier this week – Melba Falls! 6 ½ k’s in and 6 ½ k’s out. Located above the Allen Dam and above Margaret Falls the natural bush environment, large rock formed pool and stunning falls are just another hidden gem in our backyard.
