Our Backyard

January is such a big month in Lorne where one thing runs into another and before you know it, the first half of the month is all over! Whether it was Christmas and New Year celebrations, Pier 2 Pub, Mountain to Surf or the thousands that have been enjoying our environment on a daily basis, our town has been bursting at the seams and there continues to be plenty on offer for all, and this current week has been no different. Last night at the Lorne View, Great Ocean Road Health were the beneficiaries of a great fundraising evening run but Great Ocean Road Cycling. Tonight, at the same venue the Lorne Football and Netball Club are hosting their annual major fundraiser with an amazing mix of first class celebrities. As per usual Brian ‘B.T’ Taylor will M.C and present Shane Warne, Kris Smith and Shane Jacobson as a “line up” as good as any seen in Lorne!

The weather in January has not been all that hot but let me share with you that the coastal real estate market has certainly been “heating up”.
With five contracted deals through the past week and a handful of other negotiations underway, something ‘special’ is brewing. Demand and decision making have been far superior to twelve months ago, and our staunch forecasts of January 2020, being far superior to 2019 have already been confirmed. Multiple interest in properties has become almost the norm and with the Australia Day weekend auctions fast looming the month of January looks like being a great month for real estate in Lorne.

Great to read that young local Sam Dragovitch, who had just completed his Bronze Medallion, performed his first ocean rescue while patrolling for the Lorne Surf Club – well done Sam!
