Our Backyard

Happy Australia Day long weekend and I gotta say it – where has the month of January gone! Like most other Lorne business operators whom have worked every day since Boxing Day, this weekend signals the final book end of the peak holiday period. With students returning to school next week and February “opening its arms”, it’s a great time of the year and one when many can draw a breath for the first time.

Its been a good summer, not too hot, not too cold, good numbers about but not records and we are only 2/3 of the way through it. Its been a summer of entertainment and things to do and when the sun hasn’t shined, Lorne certainly has. Whether it be Pier 2 Pub, Mountain to Surf, Live Wire Park, live music and entertainment, beers at the A Team, surfing, golf or choosing a local restaurant to dine – Lorne has delivered like no other!

Just as Lorne has delivered, so has our market pulled itself from the ruins of twelve months earlier. And without doubt the headline act of the past week, if not the past year, was last weekends outstanding result at 1 Roadknight Street, Lorne. For those that haven’t heard, the magnificent 5-bedroom residence was listed by Tyrone Provan for private sale at $6.5 million. In our office, unlike the norm, all our team are remunerated on a shared commission basis where it is everyone’s interest to service every purchaser across every piece of property, irrespective of whoever lists it for sale and the advantages to a seller can be huge, and this is just that. Once all team members become familiar with the property, we were soon to realise that we had three clients all dealing with different team members that were prepared to pay the vendors price. Ty was the architect of the sales strategy that was to see all parties seated at the large dining table at 1 Roadknight Street taking in the spectacular view before their intertest was confirmed and bidding began. After 15 strong bids, the property was sold for an undisclosed figure well in excess of $7 million. A new record residential home price not only for Lorne, but for Geelong, the Surf Coast and the Great Ocean Road.
