‘Lorne – Market Round up’. My favorite index is the Westpac Consumer Sentiment Index Survey which at March 1 recorded 110.5 on a scale where 100 means optimists merely balance pessimists. It’s the first time the index has breached 110 since December 2010.
On the all important question of whether now is a good time to buy a house the confidence reading surged to a 3 ½ year high of 44. An extra ordinary 60 per cent of consumers surveyed believe that now is a good time to buy a dwelling. Only 16% think it is not a good time to buy.
According to Westpac Chief Economist Bill Evans “Consumers have been buoyed by the positive run on markets. The share market rose a further 3 per cent between February and March to be up 10 per cent for the year and 20 per cent from its September low”.
Mr Evans re enforced that these are strong results and what we are now seeing is the accumulation of interest rates cuts genuinely boosting confidence.

‘Lorne – Weekly report’. Another positive week in the Lorne property market as the town continues to thrive in the magnificent indian summer. Last weekends Labour Day long weekend in Lorne saw volumes of people never before experienced at this time of the year, with most traders reporting Pier 2 Pub like results, the town continues its great momentum.
With a further three contracted deals through the Lorne office with the features being the 2nd last Duetto Villa selling at almost its asking price and the property at 6 Gwynne Avenue changing hands after being on the market for in excess of 12 months.
Local sport also starts to rejuvenate at this time of the year with the Lorne Dolphins having their first practice match last weekend and our junior life savers preparing for the Victorian Titles on the Lorne beach on March 23rd & 24th.
