Lorne – General Market Round-Up

According to Dr Andrew Wilson, senior economist at Australian Property Monitors, the Australian housing markets have started 2013 encouragingly with solid indications of rising buyer activity and increased confidence from sellers. Historically low interest rates are the fuel of this emerging fire which is no real surprise given the typical impact of low mortgage rates on buyer activity in previous housing growth cycles.
The biggest difference we have noticed on the coast is that buyers are beginning to “re – open their wallets” after having them securely closed over the past two years. Albeit these same buyers are not belting doors down to secure a leisure property they are at least re-circulating to fossick through what represents good value and what does not. Even when buyers find value their desire to negotiate is still driven by the dark shadow of recent years.

‘Lorne Weekly Report’

Steady as she goes in Lorne with a couple more deals being written and some solid enquiry through the Easter weekend. Numbers in the town have continued to re enforce the increasing popularity of the coast and help create the optimistic vibe for the future of our local market. It was good to kick off the new month with a contracted deal in Wye River as demand is beginning to build around the coastal corridor.
Last weekend the Dolphins had a great win over Apollo Bay in front of one of the biggest crowds ever seen at the Stribling Reserve Oval. Not only were the senior footballers victorious but also the reserves and U/14’s while all Lorne’s netball teams got off to a great start.
It was a fantastic weekend all round in Lorne with the Lions Easter Art Show a roaring success, huge crowds at the markets on the foreshore and even great numbers enjoying the ocean.
