LORNE – HERE AND THERE

Look out Lorne! As 6,000 cyclists are preparing to descend onto our town for the 2016 Amy’s Gran Fondo which has established itself as one of the most popular mass participation bike rides in the country attracting cyclists from across Australia and internationally. The event is a UCI Gran Fondo World Series qualifier and with the 2017 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in France, the road to the rainbow jersey begins here in Lorne.

The major events of the weekend include the Amy’s Otway Tour Interim in Mountjoy Parade from 4pm, Amy’s Wall in Bay Street from 5:45pm on Saturday and then on Sunday Amy’s Otway Tour Road Race at 7:45am and then the Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo rides from 8:30am. Presentation ceremonies for all events take place at the event village on the Lorne Foreshore at 12 noon.

Great to see that fuel is now flowing again in Lorne after extensive restoration and renovation works are complete to guarantee “clean” diesel, the operators have installed a new above ground tank to remove any doubt. We could have easily lost this service so make sure you give them and all other local businesses your full support!

Biggest news of the week was the Reserve Bank decision to leave interest rates on hold after the cuts of the previous month while buying conditions are aligned and stock levels low, there are some promising signs that lay ahead.

With two contracted transactions over the past week at both ends of the market, buyers have started to ramp up their search for their summer asset. The Cumberland and Chalet apartment complex’s continue to be much sought after assets. The re-sale of the only remaining one bedroom apartment at the Cumberland reinforces the popularity of the development whilst there remains nothing on offer in the Mirvac Building.

Apartments and townhouses offer a great opportunity to secure your “lock and leave” lifestyle asset with a minimum of maintenance. There are some who are concerned with Owners Corporation fees, but reality is that these fees which look after your asset are often offset by what you save in land tax.
