LORNE – HERE AND THERE

AFL Grand Final week and it’s all about the Doggies, and why wouldn’t it be as they make their first grand final appearance in 55 years. Many would not know but the Bulldogs last premiership coach, the late Charlie Sutton was for many years a property owner here in Lorne, just as his daughter is today.

Brownlow medallist, Gary Dempsey also has had a long association with Lorne and along with a proud passionate and loyal Lorne Doggies supporter group, Saturday will be made even more special.

While on grand achievements, I can’t go without recognising the effort of Lorne’s only female, and very accomplished salesperson, Karen Stribling. Last week Karen ran and won the 10km Surfcoast Hell Run held in the Otways National Park behind Lorne. One really tough event experienced in heavy conditions in some of the most rugged, spectacular bushland.

LORNE – MARKET ROUND UP

As we near the end of the September school holidays, the landslips on the Great Ocean Road and mixed messaging of access status certainly took its toll on visitor numbers, especially through the first week. But with that said real estate activity has been solid along the entire coast. In fact month to date our Apollo Bay office has concluded 6 transactions across all market segments, while here in Lorne 7 contracts for the month provide further optimism for what lay ahead.

Through the week the contracting of the residence at 91 Powlarth Road was a great outcome on a number of fronts. Having been on the market for an extended period of time, and in the first instance with an out of town agent, the home sold to a young family as their permanent residence.
