LORNE – HERE AND THERE

I was privy to a beautiful story from a senior member from the Lorne School who reported the difficulties that some of their students, and kinder children were having in their commute from Wye River with the Great Ocean Road closed from Separation Creek.

As a result of the closures the children couldn’t be collected from their normal pick up point so their day would begin with the walk over the ridge with fellow students and bus driver Roy Moriarty to the waiting bus at Separation Creek.

Once on board it was full steam ahead into Lorne for the ongoing education and the days events before returning home and the final climb of the day. The story of Roy walking the children from the bus back over the ridge to their families was tastefully akin to a broad of ducklings under the caring eye of their mother. As if leading the volunteers at the Wye River CFA through the event of the Christmas 2016 fires wasn’t enough, Roy and his commitment to community is admired and respected by all!

LORNE – MARKET ROUND UP

Another good week on the real estate front in Lorne with five contracted transactions across all market segments and price points. After reporting last week the success of two apartments at full asking price, I am happy to report for buyer and seller the front row Kalimna Apartment that sold for the full asking price of just under one million dollars – a new record price for the complex.

Another landmark sale of the week was the property at 8 Alsop Street that, after being on the market for an extended period of time, sold within ten percent of its asking price. Our 84 year old vendor was over the moon and local son even more ecstatic of the outcome given he no longer needs to maintain it! All in all another good week for the property market in Lorne.

Did you know that Lorne’s first football ground was on the Lorne Foreshore with the trampolines being on the north end goals and the Surf Club car park at the south end!

See you in Our Backyard.
