LORNE – HERE AND THERE

This week is the first official meeting of the newly created Great Ocean Road Taskforce to protect and grow the Great Ocean Road and fast track the projects that attract visitors to the landmark attraction. This will be the first time that the key agencies responsible for the road have been brought together as one. The taskforce will be co-chaired by former State Government Minister Terry Mulder and Peter Bachelor with the primary goal to encourage more tourism and investment in the region.

The first role of this taskforce will be to work out what is and what isn’t working when it comes to opportunities for the iconic Great Ocean Road and their initial report is scheduled for release in December – stay tuned!

LORNE – MARKET ROUND UP

As reported last week spring is such an unpredictable time in our local market and after a quiet week last week the past seven days has produced some outstanding results with four contracted deals for the week. The standout was the result with the super located 2 Fern Avenue which sold for just under its $1.795 million price tag and 2/43 Dorman Street also a super result. To round out the week a two bedroom beachfront apartment in Lorne and a vacant block of land in Wye River reinforced our market optimism for summer is clearly on track.

It is also noteworthy that on the back end of low stock levels there is now beginning to be a sprinkling of new listings entering the market, not all of which are being actively promoted. On the back of competition that we experienced with a couple of the above sales, it is paramount to ensure that your interests are known to all of our team to guarantee every opportunity is exposed to you as a buyer.

A LITTLE SECRET

Did you know that before the Great Ocean Road many of Lorne’s supply would come to town by small vessel. In early 1900’s the “Moonah” with her plumes of black smoke would signal the start of the scramble of horse and cart to get to the Point Grey Precinct to queue for supplies. Still today there remains a rope “tie off point” on the rocks in front of Lorne Aquatic Club.
