Our Backyard

These winter school holidays have defied the trends of past years with great numbers enjoying Lorne and the coast. The flow of international visitors has continued, and winter holiday makers using Lorne as their base for a multitude of activities whether it be passive or adventurous, we are lucky to have it all.

Members of my family experienced the brilliant Live Wire Park and its entire diverse range of extreme activities they offer and were in absolute raves of the tree top experience. For a sneak peak of this fantastic new addition to the Lorne checklist – check out the video here.

Being not quite adventurous I enjoyed a leisurely 18 holes of golf shared with our new resident kangaroos and not too many others, while at the same time taking in the magic outlook from what must be one of Australia’s most picturesque, if not challenging, golf courses – we are so lucky!

The temperature may have been cold but the market certainly hasn’t, albeit that contracts haven’t flowed quite as quickly but are coming on the completion end of a number of negotiations. Over the past week a vacant allotment with a lovely ocean outlook sold very close to its asking price of just under $400,000. Whether its buyers or prospective sellers, the outlook for real estate on the coast continues to be strong with a number of prospective sellers putting plans into place and preparing their properties for sale. As always there continues to be opportunities for those that are on the lookout and if you are, you need to be communicating with members of our team to ensure you don’t miss the chance at any of the “off market” transactions.

Sad to see that Nino restaurant will not be re-opening following the current school holiday vacation. They have delivered some great food over recent years but have chosen to close their doors. It doesn’t matter whether it be a local restaurant, hardware, food supplier or petrol station, unless you continue to shop local we are at risk of dwindling services and amenities.
