Lorne – Market Round UP
This week my attention turns to the holiday rental market in Lorne and the proposed increase from the Surfcoast Shire with regard to rates. The intention of the Shire has been to raise the rate of a holiday property that is utilised for commercial purposes from 100% to 170% and reduce the commercial rate from 190% to 170%. As you can well imagine this caused an uproar among coastal home owners with the Shire receiving in excess of 80 written objections.
Our accommodation manager Matthew Neill has spent an enormous amount of time lobbying on behalf of our landlords and working with the Shire to assist in coming up with a better solution. We are all eagerly awaiting the outcome!


Lorne – Weekly Report
The month of June might have started slowly but the long weekend certainly gave the coastal real estate market a nice kick along. Through the Queen’s Birthday long weekend the huge numbers on the coast had all the traders smiling and the town boasting a multitude of events and attractions for our visitors.
Two great sales in Lorne over the weekend with properties in Summerhills Avenue and the Great Ocean Road both selling for in excess of $1 million. These two results were outstanding on the back of what had been a quieter period, but for those who know Lorne well would realise that this has come as no surprise.
