The next twelve months according to all reports is likely to be “steady as she goes” but being a glass half full type of person, I am hoping that we may see a bit more activity in the next twelve months than what we have in the past twelve. The murmurings of the Federal Budget are now behind us and there appears to be an undercurrent of people just wanting to get on with life and business without the negative distractions – oh well only time will tell.
For the first time agents on the coast and in Geelong are starting to report a tightening of new listings coming onto the market and stock levels as low as any period of the last couple of years. We’ve all seen these early indicators before and without thinking that the market will turn overnight it appears that gradual change is on the horizon.


Lorne – Weekly Report
As we close in on the end of the financial year, discussions begin to revolve around the trends that will emerge from the results of the previous twelve months. At times it’s hard to walk the fine line that exists between calling a market the “way it is” as opposed to the “way we want to see it”. Too often in our industry we as agents are always accused of talking up the market and why wouldn’t we – as we all want it to be buoyant. But occasionally we can be criticised for being too negative, or is it because occasionally you will find an agent who calls it the way it is! Stay tuned for the year-end report through the next 30 days. The month of June is finishing strongly on the back of last weeks reported sales and a couple of further negotiations that are currently underway.
A great time of the year to be in Lorne and those lucky enough to be here last weekend would have witnessed the whale frolicking so close to the Lorne Pier. Just to cap it off our resident seal also went out of his way to make his presence felt for the many onlookers.
The finishing touches have been put into place at the Stribling Reserve as the lights were turned on at the new netball courts for the first time – a magnificent site.
