Our Backyard – Lorne

A huge weekend coming up for the Lorne Football and Netball Club with no less than three sides appearing in the 2019 Colac and District Netball and Football Grand Finals. The first match for Lorne will see our Under 18’s take on Ireewarra-Beeac and will enter the game as underdogs to a strong young Bombers side who have taken all before them in 2019, but Grand Finals are a different stage! Next up our B Grade Netballers take on the tenacious Alvie Netball Club who have been gallant in fighting from 5th position on the ladder to secure their Grand Final berth. Heading the charge with our Netballers is their star goal shooter Jeanette Hancock who will be known to many of you as our treasured senior Property Manager – good luck Jeanette.

And 2:15 pm the Lorne Senior side, who finished the season as minor premiers, hit Colac’s Central Reserve to take on South Colac. It will be a big day for the Lorne team and senior coach Jack Hollmer in his first year back home where his family name is synonymous with sport in Lorne. We wish the boys well as they look to go “back to back” in 2019. Across all sides there are strong links back into our community as there is a depth of local players that has not been seen for many years. Within our own office its not only Jeanette who is in the black and white, as our front of house champion Glenda has not only Jack coaching this side but also Lewie, another big game player. Then of course is the young Oscar Coutts, son of Lucie and Michael lining up for his first senior Grand Final for Lorne and hopefully following the successful foot steps of his old man.

Spring is now well and truly underway and the competition is fierce within our sales team for bragging rights of the first spring sale as we are yet to open our account. Real estate discussions have been more active around “potential sellers” looking to list their property in the forthcoming months and that is a welcome sign as stock levels are low and nothing new has been listed for sale in Lorne for some weeks. From what my sources tell me the shortage is not confined just to the coast as most markets are experiencing the same challenges. Here in Lorne our numbers are as low as any time in the past ten years which makes for a very interesting period ahead. After the Reserve Bank’s recent decision to leave the cash rate at 1%, surely if you were a seller you would be looking to capitalise on these economic indicators.

Saturday 7th September 12 – 12:30 2/9 Stirling Street, Lorne

The strength of the Lorne Football and Netball Club cannot be underestimated and it interesting to note that our senior football side will take to the field for their fourth Grand Final appearance in the last ten years
